EMPLOYER FAQ:

I am an employer trying to log in to my account. It will not let me log in. Can you fix the problem?

When you log out of your account you need to sign out rather than closing the window (you do this by clicking on the “X” in the upper right hand corner of the window). When close the window, instead of signing out, and try to log in at a different computer, you will be locked out for two hours.

The company that sponsored my security clearance offered me a contract, which I do not want to accept. Since they sponsored my clearance, do I have to accept the contract?

We cannot advise you in this matter because we do not know the specifics of your employment contract. You will need to work with your security officer on this matter and see if there is another contract you can work on or to learn more about your options. You may also want to check with the Human Resources Department of your employer. Some of these issues should have been addressed in your employment letter. Finally, you may want to check with the Office of Personnel Management of the Federal Government at www.opm.gov.

What is the process for applying for a security clearance? Is there a website to start the process or is there a physical address that you must go to, to apply?

For information on the security clearance process you can go to our website www.ClearedJobs.Net. At the bottom of the page there is a Security FAQ. The first place to start would be www.opm.gov, which is the current agency overseeing the security clearance process. Formerly it was the Defense Security Service.

How will you verify my clearance? The online questionnaire asks if you have a clearance and what type of clearance, but doesn't ask anything more specific.

You do not need to bring anything specific regarding your clearance. As long as it is active then you are fine. Just bring copies of resumes to pass along to the employers.
