As you continue your job search, remember that paying attention
to details each step of the way helps you to stand out as
a job candidate. Here are some simple ways to get specific.
Create a list to be specific about your
strengths and interests in a job/career, and identify what
type of job will provide the most opportunity for you to do
things that you are good at AND that you like to do. Highlight
those in your resume, too!

Create a list of questions to ask your interviewer about
the company - what it is like to work there, who the position
reports to, what makes a person successful in this company…be
specific! Asking specific questions that relate to
the company show that you are interested and doing your research.
When asked a question, be specific in your
response. For example, if you are asked about your strengths,
you can offer more than just a list. Instead of responding
with “I am responsible”, also offer an example
of when you demonstrated your responsibility in your last
job.
Send a thank you card. In the note, be specific
about something that impressed you about the job, the company,
or the interviewer. This helps to keep you in the front of
the mind of the person while he/she makes decisions about
the position.
