
Network Engineer/System Admin

Under minimum supervision designs and coordinates the installation and acceptance testing of networks utilizing primarily Cisco products. Monitors network hardware operations and ensure configurations are correct on routers, switches and other network peripherals. Plans implementation of enhancements and upgrades to the network; performs cost/benefit analysis studies against network and recommends enhancements; directs acquisition, installation, and testing of network hardware; advises network users of hardware requirements, configurations, and limitations; and isolate or resolves network problems. Performs installations, maintenance, troubleshooting, and conversion of components including servers, PCs, router, switches, firewalls, IDS and VPNs devices. Contractor shall be responsible for implementation of new designs worldwide in a control environment on three different classified and unclassified networks. Contractor shall be well verse in all phases of the Open System Interface (OSI) model, to include IPSEC, EGRIP, RIP and other protocols associated with network developments.
Skills
Required Education: Two years of college, prefers a BA or BS in System Engineering or similar disciplines.
Required Clearance: Top Secret with Single Scope Back Ground Investigation (TS/SSBI) and capable of passing a CI Polygraph
Certifications: Cisco Certified Network Associated (CCNA) required, Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) preferred. Requirements are waiverable with 3-5 years of experience in the field of study.
Notes
MUST be able to Answer the following from working experience:
1.) Explain you understanding of VPNs in particular familiarity with IPSEC
2.) Explain any protocols that you are familiar with OSPF, EGRIP, RIP, etc
3.) Explain your understanding VLANS, what is the Main purpose of VLANS.
4.) How will you deploy and what reason would deploy VLANS
5.) Understanding of VTP and Spanning Tree
6.) Familiarity with the criteria for installing a New location, i.e from a network perspective, to include site survey and recommendation to client.
7.) What switches and routers are you familiar with,will be question extensively on their understanding of configuring routers and switches.
